Good luck Charlotte…
We were very fortunate through the latter part of the summer to have a university undergraduate working with us on placement.
Charlotte Gawne is two-thirds of her way through her degree in politics at Northumbria University. Indeed, as I write this blog, she will just have started back for her third year.
During her first week with us, Charlotte spent a little bit of time with each member of the Turnstone Team giving her a good all-round feel for what we do. She sat in on client meetings as well as a disciplinary investigation and also undertook a variety of projects, the most invaluable being a complete review of our generic employment documentation from which we pull together the bespoke documents for our different clients.
Her biggest test, in order to complete her induction and to cement her place in the Turnstone Team for the summer, was her first ‘tea-run’ – and she passed with flying colours. Indeed, Rob thought she made the best coffee of all of us – and believe me, he’s hard to please!
Probably her biggest achievement whilst with us was writing our HR Talk columns for the North-West Evening Mail. When she passed her first draft article through for me to read I honestly thought I was reading a piece from one of the national broadsheets. She has a natural ability with the pen (or should I say the keyboard) and she wrote four of our HR Talk columns during her stay. She was chuffed to bits to see her work in the paper along with her photograph.
Writing as well as this, I have no doubt whatsoever that her final year thesis will be of the highest standard.
The Team took Charlotte to Aspire for a cocktail or two on the Friday evening of her final week and we all wish her well in her final year.
Good luck and keep in touch, Charlotte.
