HR Services delivered as and when you need them

IR35 implementation in the private sector delayed for a year due to current Coronavirus pandemic.

Introduced in 2000, IR35 is the anti tax avoidance rule that applies to all contractors and freelancers who do not fall under HMRC’s definition of being self-employed.

It has been announced this week (17 March 2020) that the date for implementation of these new tax measures, which planned to make organisations responsible for determining whether a contractor carrying out work for them should be treated as an employee for tax purposes, has been postponed for twelve months and will now come into effect on 6 April 2021.

It should be noted that this is a deferral, not a cancellation, and that the government is still committed to introducing the policy.

It’s not something that is going to go away.

How can Turnstone HR help?
We can help you to determine, firstly whether or not your Company is exempt from these new rules as a small business and secondly, if you are not exempt, whether contractors carrying out work for you should be treated as an employee. Please do get in touch if you need some assistance..

“There is evidence to suggest that good HR practice and people management in SMEs are key factors in strong business performance and can lead to increased productivity.”
