National Minimum Wage Change
The new national minimum wage rates have increased to £6.19 (from £6.08) for workers aged 21 or over and to £2.65 (from £2.60) for apprentices under 19 or those in their first year of an apprenticeship.
The rates for workers aged 16-20 remain unchanged.
Thus, the full list of national minimum wage rates is now as follows:
- £6.19 – the main rate for workers aged 21 and over;
- £4.98 – the 18-20 age rate;
- £3.68 – the 16-17 age rate for workers above school leaving age but under 18;
- £2.65 – the apprentice rate, for apprentices under 19, or 19 or over and in the first year of apprenticeship.
