Turnstone HR Consultancy moves home…
1st April 2012. Not only April Fools’ Day, but also an important day in the growth of one of Barrow’s young and dynamic companies.
I started Turnstone HR Consultancy in January 2010 at which time, it was just me working out of a converted bedroom at home with the admin and accounting support being provided by my wife, Jenny. Fast-forward to 1st April 2012 and Turnstone, now comprising a team of ten, moved into its new home at 1 Walney Road.
We decided to recognise this key stage in the company’s development by holding a celebration party on Friday 20th April at which we would officially open our new office.
The invited gathering of clients, local business people and dignitaries, included The Mayor of Barrow, Councillor John Murphy and his good lady wife, Eleanor and it was a great opportunity to highlight the huge team effort that had led to the growth of the company and thereby precipitated the move.
The new office is fantastic and really suits our purpose at this stage in our development; and the location is superb, as with our fantastic new signage, everyone driving into Barrow will see us.
After I had given a brief speech, Councillor Murphy officially opened Turnstone House. In cutting the ribbon Councillor Murphy said “I would genuinely like to congratulate Turnstone. It’s companies like Turnstone, growing and employing people, that are helping to develop Barrow going forward despite the financial nightmare that has been thrust upon us”.
It was also an opportunity to introduce the two new members of the Turnstone Team. Doug MacKay joins as Turnstone’s Health & Safety Consultant, expanding the range of HR-related services offered to its client-base, whilst Claire Jarvis jumps on board as HR Administrator.
Whilst continuing to provide HR project support to companies in the marine industry, Turnstone also has a growing portfolio of local clients for whom we provide a very cost-effective and hands-on support service.
In addition to providing HR and Health & Safety advice and support, we have just launched a new HR Training provision under the title of “BiteSizeHR” and are kicking this off with three short seminars during May that are free to local businesses.
In his usual inimitable way, my friend, colleague and fellow Turnstone Director, Rob Cairns, had the final word in proposing a toast to “the successful future of Turnstone HR”. Video of the event to follow shortly!
